Quick lessons:
Randy Rhoads
Hey guyzzz, here’s a few of Randy’s signature licks from his spotlight solo on “Randy Rhoads Tribute”… there’s a classically based arpeggio lick 👅 (practice and loop it)… a pull of lick 👅 using one of his more familiar patterns and a diminished arpeggio lick 👅 he was very fond of and used a lot … good stuff right here. Quick lessons:
“C.A.G.E.D.” Style guitar lick… playing licks that are a combination of rhythm and lead and using double stops are a great way to incorporate the CAGED method into your playing. This lick is considered to be in the “E Shape” for every chord shape there’s an underlying Chord shape and arpeggio… visualize this while your practicing your pentatonic scale shapes and you’ll get the picture (pun intended)… Ryan Iavarone Guitar Ryan Iavarone

Chord progression
Playing chord progressions is a great way to learn how to change and practice getting familiar with the shapes in real time rather than randomly picking chords to practice. Here’s a progression in the key of G. Enjoy Ryan Iavarone Ryan Iavarone Guitar

Learning to play the Blues is a must for all guitarists in my opinion… in the early stages of learning chords and how to strum there’s really no better way than to apply this kind of thing into your practice routine. In the key of E the “primary chords” are based in the I-IV-V (1st, 4th and 5th notes in the scale) E being “I” we count up to IV from E which is (E, F #, G #, A) the “A” chord and the 5th would obviously be “B”… so the I-IV-V chords in the key of E are E, A, and B. 7th chords are used to give it a more bluesy sound. So, learn these grips and apply the to the 12 bar blues progression to start making some music. You’d simply play the chords in this order with 4 strums (beats )
E7-A7-E7-E7
A7-A7-E7-E7
B7-A7-E7-B7 :I
(I-IV-I-I
IV-IV-I-I
V-IV-I-V :l)
Side note: once you have a better idea of how to extract the primary chords in each key you should definitely be taking the time to do this same process in every key… enjoy
