We are a nonprofit organization promoting and sharing the world’s greatest hobby-model railroading.

The Providence Northern is an educational center dedicated to model train
building and design. Model Railroading is a multi-faceted hobby incorporating
disciplines such as engineering, architecture, woodworking, electronics, and
information technology.

The locomotive engineer gives a couple of blasts on the horn to say hello to the tower operator. New York Central Flexivan Service on the Providence Northern. Fast and reliable!
The locomotives are early Athearn Genesis equipped with ESU Loksound, speakers and twin beam led headlight upgrades from Scale Sound Systems.

We are open every Saturday from 12pm to 4pm. 1175 W Shore Rd, Warwick RI 02889, layout is located on the upper level. Admission is free, donations are always welcomed.

It’s April, 1969 and a short PC work train makes its way through New Haven on its way to South Station via Providence. The snow has melted and spring is in the air as the crew enjoys a mild day.

NHVT 669 works the paper mills in Rumford on a warm spring day in 1995. The club is open to the public every Saturday 12-4, come stop by!

It’s sometime in the early 1960’s as a lone PN box car stands by as the PRR’s ‘The Senator’ rushes through St Johnsbury on a rare trip this far north. Please excuse the absence of overhead wires, a GG1 at speed was too much to pass up.

With stainless steel shining in the sun, the Flying Yankee trainset rushes north out of Boston and into the hills of Northern Massachusetts. Today the trainset is in charge of the Minute Service to upstate New York.
