I've been playing drums for over 19 years and I've been a teacher since September 2006 teaching for various music schools in the area while having my own business. I've helped tons of students throughout the years and still going. Music is a unique way for individuals to express themselves creatively, and everyone can benefit from music education in one form or another. I believe that music education is important for the development of skills both related to music, but also general life skills. Routine, persistence, and patience are just a few life skills that can be practiced while learning an instrument. Both children and adults can benefit from the experience of studying music. The first step to being a great musician is setting the foundation with good general knowledge of music through good practice techniques. Learning things right the first time gives students the opportunity to grow and improve without the frustration of backtracking to correct bad habits. My own life and perspectives have been greatly impacted by my involvement in music as both a student and a teacher, as well as a performer and as a session musician. As a teacher, I aim to be a role model to my students. I believe that good musicians are varied, have fun while they play and learn, and have a rock-solid foundation to work with that they can build on. I have worked hard and committed myself to the process of growing as a musician, and this is what I expect of my students as well. I know that one doesn’t need to be “perfect” in order to be successful in the world of music, as well as in everyday life. Success is setting goals for oneself and working to attain those goals through practice and a willingness to try something new. I hope through my example and with my support, my students will go on to attain whatever goals they have set and will share their love and appreciation for music with the world.
