We want to take a moment to say THANK YOU to our amazing Transportation Team for all that you do each and every day to make sure our students get to and from school safely and reliably!

From arranging transportation, keeping our buses safe and up to date, coordinating routes, handling the many details behind the scenes, and making sure everything runs as smoothly as possible, your hard work does not go unnoticed!

And we also want to recognize our bus drivers and car drivers as well! Thank you for all that you do to help ensure our students arrive at school safely and return home each day. We truly appreciate the important role you play and all the hard work you put in each day to keep our students moving safely!

Our team recently welcomed Ben Block from Fork Farms for an engaging meeting and presentation on hands-on hydroponic learning into our classrooms. Even more exciting, we’ve received 15 Flex Farm units from Fork Farms to help our teachers explore, learn, and discover innovative ways to incorporate hydroponics into instruction. We’re looking forward to seeing how these systems grow not only plants, but also curiosity, collaboration, STEM learning, and new opportunities for our students. A huge thank you to Fork Farms and Ben Block for helping us get started on this exciting journey!

It’s Speech Pathology Week, and we’re taking a moment to celebrate our amazing Speech-Language Pathologists, Alexandra Barton and Rayna Piper!

Alexandra and Rayna play such an important role in supporting communication, connection, confidence, and independence. We are incredibly grateful for the compassion, expertise, and dedication they bring to the individuals and families they serve every day.

ALUMNI SHOUTOUT: ZION GRAHAM!

We couldn’t be more proud to give a huge shoutout to one of our former students, Zion Graham from Rappahannock High School!

Zion represented Virginia at JAG’s National Career Development Conference in Salt Lake City, where he had the incredible opportunity to write, record, and perform a brand-new JAG Anthem alongside national recording artist Alexander Star!

What an amazing accomplishment and experience! Zion continues to make his school, community, and everyone who has had the privilege of supporting him proud. We love seeing our former students take the skills, confidence, and leadership they developed through JAG and use them to accomplish great things. 🌟

Way to go, Zion! We’re cheering you on and can’t wait to see what you accomplish next!

A new school year is here, and so is mental health support for our students and families.

Through our partnership with Cartwheel, families have access to individual teletherapy for students in grades 3+, parent and caregiver guidance, and more — appointments are available within days, with no waitlists. Care is available in multiple languages and is free with Medicaid.

Richmond County Public Schools Announces Jason Strong, Ed.D. as New Superintendent

Richmond County Public Schools is pleased to announce that the RCPS School Board voted to appoint Jason Strong, Ed.D. as the next Superintendent of Richmond County Public Schools.

Strong is no stranger to Richmond County. Having begun his career in the division more than 20 years ago, he has served the school community in a variety of leadership roles and has worked alongside an exceptional team of educators, staff, families, and community members.

Strong shared his excitement about continuing to serve the community where his career began, emphasizing the importance of listening, collaboration, and working together with students, families, staff, the School Board, and the broader community.

“Richmond County established a tradition of excellence long before my arrival, and I have been fortunate to build on that reputation over the years,” Strong said. “I am excited to work together with our staff, school board, students, families, and community to continue building on the things that make our schools great and finding ways to make them even greater.”

Richmond County Public Schools congratulates Dr. Strong on his appointment and looks forward to the leadership, collaboration, and continued commitment he will bring to the division.
