🐾🚔 Our Kinders Meet K9 Buck! 🚔🐾
Our kindergarten students had a very special visit today with Officer Caleb and his partner, K9 Buck, a 4-year-old Yellow Lab! 💙
The students loved getting to meet Buck and learn more about the important work he does alongside Officer Caleb. It was a wonderful opportunity for our students to learn about our local law enforcement and the special partnerships that help keep our community safe.
A big thank you to Officer Caleb and K9 Buck for spending time with our Kinders! 🐾❤️🖤

Happy ! Today, we’re excited to spotlight Anissa Justice, Blind/Low Vision Liaison, for and making a difference here at WCS!

Anissa was nominated by Emily Gough, who shared how hard Anissa works behind the scenes to prepare materials for students who are blind or have visual impairments, including finding creative ways to make math and science graphs accessible. She’s also always willing to step in and support the front office staff wherever she’s needed.

Thank you, Anissa! We're so grateful for all that you do at WCS!

Happy Instructional Coaches Appreciation Day to one of the absolute BEST!
If you looked up the word dedication in the dictionary, I’m pretty sure you’d find a picture of Courtney Hale right there.
Courtney is amazing, patient, kind, and incredibly committed to the people she works with. She listens to everyone’s needs, makes everyone feel heard and valued, and somehow always finds a way to show up for others—even when she already has a million things on her plate.
She works so hard, gives 110% of herself, and does it all with so much heart. She’s the kind of coach who doesn’t just lead—she supports, encourages, listens, and genuinely cares.
We are SO lucky to have you, Courtney! Thank you for everything you do, day in and day out. You are appreciated more than you probably realize!

Earlier this week, Mrs. Klinger’s kindergarten class celebrated Letter G Day by becoming scientists! 🧑‍🔬👩‍🔬
With their safety goggles on, students got to bust open geodes and discover the beautiful crystals hiding inside! 💎 What an exciting, hands-on way to explore science while learning about the letter G!

🌿🏡 Third Grade Steps Back in Time! 🏡🌿
Our third graders traveled to Forks of the Wabash to experience what life was like in 1840! This hands-on field trip connected perfectly with their Indiana history studies. 📚✨
Students have been learning about the Miami Tribe, who lived in our area, and explored their use of natural resources, homes, and everyday life. They also learned about early settlers coming to Indiana, what school was like in the 1800s, how canals brought people and goods to Indiana, and the trading relationships between settlers and the Miami people. 🌾🏠📚🤝
What a wonderful way to bring history to life and help our students connect with the history of the community around them! ❤️💙

🦗🔬 2nd Grade Takes on STEM! 🔬🦗
Our 2nd graders got hands-on with STEM today as they became scientists and dissected grasshoppers! 🧪👩‍🔬👨‍🔬
Students had the opportunity to take a closer look at a grasshopper and explore how its body is designed to help it survive. They even examined the grasshopper’s legs and thought about how each leg functions for walking, holding, and jumping! 🦗
This hands-on experience encouraged students to observe, investigate, ask questions, and think like scientists. Learning comes to life when students can explore science up close! 🌱🔍

🚜 Kinder Cruise-In: Tractor Edition! 🌾
Our kindergarten students had a special Kinder Cruise-In today with a tractor! The students loved learning all about the tractor, discovering how it works, and even getting the chance to sit inside it!
Hands-on learning experiences like these are a wonderful way to spark curiosity, make real-world connections, and explore how things work. Who knows? We may have some future farmers, mechanics, or agricultural engineers in the making! 🌱🔧
A big thank-you to everyone who helped make this exciting learning experience possible!

Crystal leads WCS’s DLI K-12 work and much of her work happens behind the scenes. We're so grateful for her passion and expertise which has played such a major piece of making our DLI program what it is today!
