Kentucky’s General Assembly recently passed House Bill 141 and Senate Bill 18, creating a new section in KRS Chapter 158 that requires the Kentucky Department of Education (KDE) to develop and provide Type 1 diabetes informational materials for parents and guardians of students in preschool through 12th grade.

The materials encompass information about Type 1 diabetes, including disease description, risk factors, warning signs, screening recommendations, and guidance on consulting healthcare providers.

The Type 1 diabetes informational materials are available on KDE's Health Services webpage.

The mission of the School Health Services team is to support districts as they support students with their health needs.  We know that there is a critical link between health and learning and the role of schools to help improve the well-being of students.

Attention, Gallatin County Families. Our District has updated our attendance policy:

When a student is absent, parent notes and/or doctor's notes must be turned in within 10 days of the absence. Excuse notes will not be accepted after the 10-day deadline.

Please make sure to provide documentation of your child's absences within the required 10 days.

📋 What you’ll need to enroll:
1️⃣ Birth Certificate (or valid Passport/Federal ID/Custody Decree)

3️⃣ Recent Preventive Health Exam
4️⃣ Up-to-date KY Immunization Certificate
5️⃣ Proof of Dental & Eye Exams
6️⃣ Applicable Court/Custody Documents
⚠️ Note: Out-of-district families must go through the DPP application process. All health and immunization records must be turned in within 30 days of enrollment to avoid state-mandated educational neglect reporting.
