Day 4: Our teachers shared their enthusiasm and personal experiences to introduce our students to some of Germany's most important holidays and celebrations, including German Reunification Day, Karneval, Oktoberfest, and Weihnachten (Christmas).
The students were especially interested in the reunification of Germany and the fall of the Berlin Wall in 1989. The teachers brought history to life by sharing their firsthand memories of the fall of the Berlin Wall.
After playing a vocabulary memory game, the students created their own walls - not walls of division, but walls of hope and inclusion.
In the afternoon, the younger students enjoyed a traditional Bavarian-style Karneval with games, races, and an ice cream treat. The older students visited a nearby park, where they enjoyed watermelon, basketball, and time on the playground.
