Hello Art lovers, I’m offering a watercolor workshop April 14th and 15th. This is an introductory workshop and will cover the basics of light, color and a little drawing. Four hours each day @ a total of 8 hours for $100.
9:00 to 2:00 with an hour break.

The Watercolor technique is based on a Classical English system. How to paint using structure and light. The goal is to give a firm foundation for understanding the effects of light, and how to produce them on a two-dimensional surface resulting in a three-dimensional illusion. This is a class that is designed to help you understand what you’re looking at so that you can translate it into a painting and provide a method for your creativity. Color will also be addressed and a color wheel done based on the English method. It will also be taught from direct observation. The subjects will be simplified so that drawing problems are kept to a minimum.

Supply list

Brushes sizes 10 and 4 synthetic sable
Transparent Pelican brand watercolors 12 count colors. (Transparent is very important)
B level hardness pencil, H is too hard, kneaded eraser and pink pearl eraser
Watercolor paper (Arches is a wonderful paper) cold press is best for this class, at least 11”x15” no matter the brand.
(Watercolor paper that is in a block keeps the paper from buckling reduces some frustration, and doesn’t need to be stretched)
2 Containers for water, elephant ear sponge and paper towels.

The Piedmont School of Fine Art will promote an appreciation for fine art and help develop the student through a stimulated and serious education in a supportive environment. Courses will encompass virtually all of the fine arts and will be open to all, from beginners to professional artists. A full selection of day, evening, and weekend courses will be offered, including youth classes. The school will also provide a venue for students to exhibit and sell their work.

The Piedmont School of Fine Art’s instructors are professional artists who have taught extensively in their preferred medium.
