π Meet Dr. Bryan McDonald
Associate Professor of Educational Leadership
π First job in education:
Teaching physical education, health, science, and math at Oak Hill R-1, a small Kβ8 school district just outside of Salem, Missouri.
π One book every aspiring principal should read:
The Way of the Shepherd by Dr. Kevin Leman and William Pentak. It's a powerful reminder that great leadership is about serving others and leading wellβregardless of your title or setting.
β€οΈ Favorite part of working with aspiring school leaders:
I enjoy staying connected to today's schools and supporting educators as they pursue their first leadership opportunities. As a facilitator for the Missouri Leadership Academy, I'm also fortunate to continue working with many of our graduates as they grow and thrive in leadership roles across the state.
π Something students might be surprised to learn about me:
When I graduated from high school, I had no plans to attend college. I intended to stay in my hometown and work at a local sawmill. After spending a year there, I realized I wanted something different!
π¨βπ©βπ§βπ¦ If I'm not at UCM, you'll probably find me...
Spending time with family, enjoying projects around the house, serving at my church, and making memories with my one-year-old grandson while eagerly awaiting the arrival of a new granddaughter!
