Johnson County Adult Literacy Program JCALP offers Free Tutoring for Adults in Basic Reading & Writing, Basic Math, and English Language.

The coordinator is part-time, and appointments can be made in addition to the hours -Tuesday-Friday, 11:00AM-2:30 PM. JCALP trains volunteer tutors to instruct adult learners (16+) in basic literacy education, basic math, and English as a Second Language. Learners are invited to a goal-setting meeting to assess reading levels and begin the process of meeting with a tutor. There is no cost for the program, though learners and tutors are expected to make a serious, 6-month commitment to tutoring once or twice per week.

Many adults in Johnson County, MO have been meeting with a tutor to learn English. English learners are invited to call 660-429-5442 and make an appointment to sign up to learn English with a free, volunteer tutor. We start at your level and you gradually grow in your abilty to speak, write, and read English.
