Where do sociologists work (that isn’t academia)? Government & Public Policy. 🏛️

Sociologists bring an understanding of people, institutions, communities, and social change to some of the biggest challenges facing the public sector.

From shaping public policy and supporting community development to preparing communities for disasters, analyzing population change, and assessing the social impacts of public decisions, sociological skills have a valuable place in government at the local, state, and federal levels.

And sociologists don’t just study government and policy—they actually work within these systems to help shape them.

When both parents appeared equally available, schools were 40% more likely to call students’ moms, rather than their dads.
