We are of Dual Enrollment student, Bree Neely on being selected as the NPRC Student of the Month!!
We are to announce Townville native Bree Neely as Student of the Month for June 2026.
A soon to be Maplewood Junior-Senior High School graduate, Neely is a dual-enrollment student at NPRC who completed 15 credits towards college during her high school career. Her next step is to continue on to the University of Pittsburgh to major in marketing and become a digital social media sports marketer.
Her high school years have been busy, yet formative. She is her graduating classes Treasurer; a High Honor Roll Student; a past Maplewood Student of the Month; a member of Student Council; an inductee into National Honors Society; an Art Club member; has served as a team manager for Maplewood varsity baseball and was awarded a letter, is a four-year letter winner in volleyball and softball, was named all-Region, all-District 10, and all-state multiple times in volleyball, and received two nominations for Erie Sports Awards volleyball Player of the Year.
Her senior year added another layer as a college student when she started at NPRC in August 2025. This past fall she completed the Introduction to Criminal Justice course; she just wrapped up Introduction to Psychology and Introduction to Sociology this spring; and is enrolled in Introduction to Philosophy and Western Civilization 1600-Present this summer. "Being able to get this far ahead with the general education classes that every college freshman takes makes me feel a bit more stress free, especially because the classes I have been taking have been free of cost through the dual enrollment program. It's why I chose NPRC as my dual enrollment program as all the other programs at my school are less affordable. Ultimately, this opportunity will have led me to get ahead and hopefully ease my way into college."
Her favorite she has taken at NPRC so far is Introduction to Sociology because it heavily relates to life today. "It is interesting because it shows how different aspects of our lives are similar, yet so different at each stage of our lives. I also want to mention that all my instructors have been great and available if I needed them. However, the person who helped me the most with my experience is my academic advisor, Laurel Lucas. She has helped me with enrolling in all my courses, figured out credit transfers for after I finish at NPRC, and has helped me with any questions I have ever had along the way. This has made my experience at NPRC go extremely smoothly, and I am very grateful for that."
Bree Neely is a high-achieving high schooler, but she recognizes that NPRC is an institution built for students like her and many more. "People should take advantage of these courses not only because they are free for high schoolers, but also because they are tailored to you. The courses allow people to better their education, whether they are in high school or are full-time working parents; they can still better themselves at their own pace. I love these courses at NPRC because I have the entire week to plan out what I must complete while also still having all my classes in high school. Although many people around me may not know about NPRC and all they offer yet, the advantages of taking these courses, especially in high school, have been great to get a head start before my time at Pitt this fall."
Enjoy your last few days of high school, Bree! We cannot wait to see what you accomplish through college and as you build your career in business and media in the coming years.
