🦝🔍 Our fourth graders became raccoon detectives today!

During our Hands-on Science activity, Raccoon Reactions, students investigated mystery items in bags and used clues from a raccoon’s memories to figure out what was inside.

As part of our Plant and Animal Adaptations unit, they explored how animals use their senses, brains, instincts, and memories to make decisions and survive. Science, teamwork, and a little detective work in action! 🧠🌿

🚀🍕🍿 Saturday School Was a BLAST at MMSA Lorraine! 💙💚

What a way to kick off our first Saturday School of the year!

Our Cougars had a day packed with learning, laughter, teamwork, and FUN!

📚 Reading & Math: Students strengthened their academic skills through focused lessons and practice.

❤️ Social-Emotional Learning: We explored emotions, learned strategies to manage our feelings, and practiced making positive choices.

🍿🍕 Popcorn & Pizza: Because learning is always better with a few tasty treats and time to connect with friends!

🚀 Rocket Launches: Students put their creativity, problem-solving skills, and perseverance to the test!

And perhaps the BIGGEST lesson of the day?

🚀 If at first you don't succeed, TRY, TRY AGAIN! 💪

Not every rocket launched successfully on the first attempt, but that was part of the learning! We reminded our students that mistakes are opportunities to learn, improve, and keep trying.

Saturday School isn't just about catching up. It's about building skills, confidence, friendships, and a love for learning!

A HUGE thank you to our dedicated staff for giving up part of their Saturday to make this experience possible and to our students for showing up ready to learn and have fun!

💙💚 At MMSA Lorraine, learning doesn't stop on Friday!

🐾 Cougars ROAR—even on Saturdays!

Sisterhood, Sunshine, and Pumpkin Fun! 🍂💚

Our K–5 Girl Scouts soaked up the sunshine while decorating pumpkins! Our 4th and 5th graders stepped up as leaders, helping our kindergarten and 1st grade Girl Scouts and showing what it truly means to "Be a sister to every girl scout!"

A HUGE thank-you to Piechniks Greenhouse in Romeo for donating the pumpkins and making this fun activity possible!

Way to go, Girl Scouts!

Thank you to our Girl Scout leaders: Ms. Colonius, Mrs. Tierney, Mrs. Wiland, and Ms. Little!

A HUGE THANK YOU to Mrs. Forys & Ms. Glover! 🎉
These two incredible educators have made a lasting impact on our students! Both have helped multiple students successfully graduate from reading intervention and support because of the growth, confidence, and skills they have built along the way.

Their dedication, patience, and belief in every student have helped turn challenges into success stories!

Thank you, Mrs. Forys & Ms. Glover, for meeting students where they are, celebrating their growth, and helping them become confident, independent readers!

Your hard work matters, and the impact you make will last far beyond the classroom!

🦋✨ What a beautiful day for a little butterfly magic! Our 3rd graders in Ms. Mezzapelle’s and Mrs. Tierney’s classes celebrated the end of their Life Cycle Science Unit with the releasing of the butterflies!
After observing every day, watching our caterpillars form their chrysalises, and witnessing their incredible transformation into beautiful butterflies, the big day finally arrived! What an amazing hands-on learning experience!
And let’s just say… the butterflies loved us just as much as we loved them! ✨🦋
