STEAM Exploration: Bubble Science
Our Pre-K children became scientists as they investigated the science behind bubbles! Using straws, bubble wands, and textured bottles, they explored how air interacts with a soap solution to create bubbles while making predictions, testing ideas, and discussing their observations.
Science: Children learned that bubbles form when air is trapped inside a thin layer of soapy water. They observed how changing the amount of air or the tool used affected the bubbles.
Technology: Children used a variety of simple tools to investigate how each one produced different bubble effects and compared the results.
Engineering: Through trial and error, they designed and tested different ways to create the biggest bubbles, the longest bubble snakes, and colorful bubble prints, adjusting their techniques as they experimented.
Art: Children created vibrant bubble artwork using colored bubble solution, exploring texture, patterns, and creative expression.
Math: They estimated, counted, compared bubble sizes, measured which bubble snakes were longer or shorter, identified patterns, and used mathematical vocabulary such as larger, smaller, equal, more, and less.
This engaging STEAM activity also strengthened fine motor skills, oral motor development, problem-solving, critical thinking, observation, communication, and cooperative learning as children shared ideas, made predictions, and reflected on their discoveries together.
So much fun and learning!
