Today, Jean reaches 12 years in recovery. As one of her life-long best friends recently said, Jean's second act is amazing!! After decades of a destructive addiction, she found her groove. In these 12 years, she found a new social group while relying on her trusted support system of ride-or-dies, lived with a community of others all learning to build new healthy lives, ran a marathon just to prove to herself that she could, earned her master's in mental health counseling, moved and started over, built a rewarding career based on helping others heal and recover, rescued several kitties, became a dog mom, built an incredible relationship with her nephews, was a speaker for CECs, added loads of new letters after her name, and--my personal favorite--built our first healthy sister relationship since childhood.
Your second act is, indeed, outstanding, Nene. We're all so proud of you and love you so much.
