Congrats to all my theater friends!

We are excited to announce the cast for our first musical of the 2023 season: Jersey Boys!

Rehearsals are already underway, and we look forward to bringing the story of Frankie Valli and the Four Season to our stage.

Opening May 19th – Tickets will go on sale for our Season Ticket holders on April 21st
Tickets will go on sale to the general public Friday, April 28th

I keep a folder for each of my students, where I jot down notes and try to keep track of progress with each student’s range (how high and how low they can sing). Here are examples of increased range after only a couple of lessons. Using healthy vocal technique can do wonders for freeing both upper and lower notes and expanding your range!

Auditions for She Loves Me, Directed by Michael Stenberg, are set for February 26th from 2pm-5pm and February 27th from 5pm-8pm at Struthers Library Theatre.
During the audition, you will have a quick vocal warm up, and be asked to sing a full song of your choice from the audition packet.

What is Music Theory, and why is it important? Music Theory is how we interpret what is in the written music. How do we read the rhythmic and melodic notation on the page? What do all of those markings and Italian words mean? How are chords and scales created? What are time signatures and key signatures?
Knowing all of this makes you a self sufficient and knowledgeable musician. You will no longer rely on hearing someone else perform the music first. Knowing all of this allows you to perform the music as the composer intended, and most importantly allows you to then focus more on vocal technique and musicality.

Just thought I'd introduce myself to those who don't know me. My name is Rachel Harvey, and I have a Bachelor of Music degree in Music Education from George Mason University. While earning my degree, I was classically trained in voice and piano. I graduated with Virginia teaching licensure in PreK-12th Grade Vocal/General Music. My post graduate training included Orff Schulwerk certification, as well as Kindermusik certification.

I have over 20 years of experience in teaching all age levels. I have taught private piano and voice lessons, early childhood music and movement classes, as well as choir, piano, ukulele, and general music in public and private schools. I plan music liturgy, cantor (song lead), and play piano for the local Catholic churches in Warren, along with providing music for funerals and weddings. I have also been Vocal Director for a number of shows at Struthers Theater.

My husband and I have 4 children, ages 11, 13, 15, and 17, along with a crew of critters (1 dog, 3 cats, and a lizard). I know how busy life can get, so I am here to help you meet your musical goals in a way that fits your life!
