Sometimes it takes 45 minutes of “boredom” before the magic begins. 🍂 But our children are remembering how to be children again, and they don’t need that full 45 minutes anymore to enter their own little imagination stations. Caterpillars, salamanders, skipping stones, leaf collections, and worlds of their own. Children don’t need us to fill every moment. They need the freedom to explore, imagine, and simply be children. 🤎

✈️ What does it take to be creative? A state of play!

Leonardo da Vinci was more than an artist! He was an inventor, an experimenter, and a curious thinker who imagined how things could work in new ways. Inspired by his ideas, our kids are exploring the same creative process through paper airplanes: imagining, building, testing, and trying again.

Because you can’t skip the play part of creativity! 💡

Build the fire. Use the knife. Make the snack. 🔥🍎

Today, ACLC students practiced fire building, knife skills, teamwork, and outdoor survival skills as they cut apples and bananas and created foil pack snacks over the fire.

A full group effort that gave students the chance to be trusted with real tools while building confidence, responsibility, and practical life skills.

Because life skills are worth learning by doing.

We are so proud of these kids and how they work together.

She chose horses. 🐴
She researched, became the expert, and shared what she learned in her own way.

This year, every 2nd-8th grade ACLC kid will become an expert on a subject they choose, and share it in a style that fits them.

When children have ownership over what they learn, research suggests it can strengthen motivation, engagement, deeper learning, and the ability to retain and apply knowledge.

Child-led learning. Curiosity in action. 🤎
