I usually like to donate some of my time or services to help kids this time of year. I was fortunate enough to stumble across this excellent charity out in the seacoast area - check them out if you're so inclined

I'd like to announce that as we move into 2026, the studio will be evolving somewhat.

The end of this year marks 30 years of teaching private lessons. The running joke has always been that my life was one long guitar lesson. Yet, I’ve never felt like I’ve worked a day in my life as it has been a genuine labor of love.

What began as a way to supplement my gig income turned into a calling. I discovered I had a natural talent for it, and I believe my success has come from enthusiasm, care for my students, and steady preparation.

I’m grateful to everyone who’s walked through my studio door. Over the years, I’ve met remarkable people — many who became close friends, supporters of my music, and generous fans.

Following my dream with consistency and commitment, those simple lessons grew into the broader educational work I do today. When asked what I’ve learned from doing this for so long, my first thought was perseverance — the discipline of investing in something, staying consistent, and seeing it through. Those lessons apply to both learning music and life.

I’ve also come to understand that a teacher’s true legacy lies in influence and care. The impact you have on students often reaches farther than you ever realize.

It’s been an honor to share so many musical journeys, and I wouldn’t trade a moment of it. But as time moves forward, so does change and growth. In 2026 my availability will be scaled back a bit to balance out my busy schedule. I'll still offer lessons both in person and on zoom but with limited availability.

I am also revisiting my plan to have some other folks provide lessons for different instruments and voice but that is still in development. So keep an eye out for that - and feel free to leave a comment if there are any specific type of lessons you'd like to see added.

Hope everyone has a great holiday!!

Fall lessons have been going well. Zoom is still a useful option for lessons. Here we're hashing out what makes a practice exercise versus a generic lick.

While I have spent a great deal of time helping others learn about music, I still consider myself a lifelong student of it.

Most recently I have reinvested some of my time into developing a better approach to my playing seven string.

Not only have I mapped out all relevant low interval limits(something most every guitar player never considers), I have also created a running list of all voicing's at these limits which is now well over 100 pages. And because I'm using a unique tuning that is more akin to lute than the standard 7, I have started mapping all voicing's out on the fretboard.

A fun project and great example that demonstrates there is always something to learn and develop!

It's been an extremely busy and productive school year for me so far. However; zoom, private, and ensemble lessons have been going strong at Plugged In. In fact, until recently I've had a waiting list but now have new available times.

If you're interested in taking up a new hobby or further developing one you already enjoy, or you'd like to try your hand at playing in a band, from now until April 1st I'm running a special discount of 30% off the cost for new signups. Let's be in touch if you'd like more info.
