Magdalen College of the Liberal Arts

Magdalen College celebrated its final Baccalaureate Mass and Commencement Ceremony. Congratulations to all graduates on your hard work and impressive accomplishments! Saint Mary Magdalene, continue to pray for us all. 

At a recent Ultimate Frisbee tournament in Hanover, NH, Magdalen showed true grit amidst disc-gusting weather! Kudos to Antonio Gamundi for helping to organize this event.

Some scenes from a very blessed Holy Week at Magdalen College. Thank you to Mr. Tristan Smith and all the students and alumni who sang in the choir and helped to celebrate with us, and thanks to Fr. Rocker, Fr. Traynor, Deacon Cooper, and the altar servers for the beautiful liturgies. Christus Resurrexit!

Magdalen‘s running club turned in an impressive performance at the St. Paddy’s 5K/10K race in Portsmouth, NH. Danny and Anna both won their divisions, and Tommy, Antonio, Faustyna, Ave, and Aden all finished in the top 7 in theirs. Congrats to Danny on finishing 4th overall in the race!

Magdalen students recently set up over 1,000 crosses on campus in honor of their commitment to work for a culture of life. The crosses help to showcase the large number of pre-born humans killed each day by abortion.

Magdalen brought home the trophy in the final annual volleyball game against Thomas More College. Congratulations to all the students who participated in this co-ed tournament and who cheered on their classmates with terrific school spirit. Thanks to Thomas More for the fun competition.




Students recently explored beautiful Franconia, NH, including a breakfast at Polly’s Pancake Parlor, a snowy hike at Cannon Mountain, and dinner at the Presby home. Special thanks to Aden Presby for leading this trip! 

Magdalen was pleased to host Fr. Rob van Alstyne, S.J. to deliver our annual Lenten Lecture. In both his lecture and his fielding of questions with Dr. Erik van Versendaal, Fr. Rob helped prepare our hearts for Lent.

Students enjoyed the annual Winter Carnival, a week-long celebration of games, competitions, and themed dress days, culminating with a festive Mardi Gras party. 

Kudos to the sophomore class for hosting a terrific Irish pub-themed Sophomore Dinner. From the Irish flags to the hand-painted wooden pub sign, from the jigs on the fiddle to Irish dancing (and other entertainment!), from the Irish soda bread and corned beef with colcannon to the folk music of JD and the Stonemasons, it was a night to remember! Thanks to all the sophomores and to those who supported them, especially Mrs. Cyr for lending her culinary expertise. 

Magdalen recently celebrated a beautiful Candlemas liturgy (with a solemn Mass and procession), which was followed by a Formal Hall dinner and lecture by Dr. Erik van Versendaal.

Over the past week, Magdalen students volunteered at pro-life organizations throughout the state, answering the call of our bishop to work at the local level for the pro-life cause. Some cleaned, organized donations, and built furniture at women’s resource centers, while others remained on campus to survey pharmacies by phone and design posters for the New Hampshire March for Life. The week culminated in the March on Saturday, which drew a sizable crowd to the capital city.
