Word family activities make reading easier, build decoding skills, and show students that they already know more words than they think!

🌟 Learning one pattern can unlock dozens of new words! 🌟

Learning phonics is even more fun when it feels like a game! 🎉

Leelin loved playing Popped!, an engaging card game that helps students practice important phonics skills while staying excited about learning. As they read sounds, words, and patterns, they never know when they’ll draw a “Popped!” card, which adds lots of laughter and friendly competition.

Games like this help build reading confidence, strengthen phonics skills, and keep students motivated to learn. When learning is fun, kids are eager to practice and improve!

I had several people send me pictures of their child working on the activities that I sent home. I loved seeing all of them but the winner is Judah, a soon to be kindergartener! You have won an hour of free tutoring! Keep the pictures coming!

Cadyn and Kelsey used a Venn diagram today to compare and contrast their mom and dad. This activity helped them identify similarities and differences while building important critical thinking and comprehension skills. Great job, Cadyn and Kelsey! 😊📚❤️

👏 Learning to clap syllables is an important step on the road to reading! Today we practiced breaking words into parts by clapping each syllable. This fun, hands-on activity helps children hear the different parts of words, build phonological awareness, and become stronger readers and spellers.

Try it at home! Say a word like “butterfly” and clap each syllable: but-ter-fly (3 claps). Learning can be as simple as a few claps and lots of smiles! 😊👏📚

To all of the parents of my little learners : I emailed you a link to Xtramath to help develop your child’s math fluency. It takes 10 minutes a day and will really help make a difference! You can see Jaliyah working on it in this picture.
