I am Stephine Westry and I am the face behind Sum Academy. I have over 7 years of experience in tutoring math. I recently graduated with my Masters in Engineering. However, I love working with numbers. Sum Academy has a strong foundation of math and is here to support your child. As of now, I am offering virtual math tutoring services. I hope to partner with schools and parents in my area (HOCO/WR) to provide in person services. As we prepare to head back to school, I want to share that Sum Academy is rendering virtual math tutoring. Virtual tutoring gives families the flexibility and convenience. I can assure you that these virtual sessions are just as effective as in person. These virtual sessions are highly interactive and engaging. While these session ($35) runs between 45 min to an hour, a lot can be learned. Go ahead and get your child a spot to stay ahead in math this school year! (If you desire in person or for homeschooling, email/text me to discuss)

At Sum Academy, we use a simple but powerful teaching method to help students feel confident and successful in math. This method is called “I do, we do, you do”. This method:
✅ Breaks down problems into manageable steps
✅ Builds understanding gradually
✅ Catches errors early

For example imagine teaching your child how to tie their shoes. First, you show them (I do). The. You tie them together (we do). Finally, they try it on their own (you do). We use that same gradual approach at Sum Academy!
