The holiday season is right around the corner! Southern Crescent Veteran Services, Inc. is accepting applications for its 7th Annual Toy Drive to help bring holiday cheer to families in need across Georgia.

Who Qualifies?
*Families in need living in Georgia
*Children ages 3–12

What’s Provided?
*New, unwrapped toys and gifts made possible through
community donations.

Application Deadline: Friday, November 13, 2026, at 3:21 PM EST

Important Pickup Information: Applicants MUST be able to pick up donated toys at a location to be determined. Toy delivery is NOT available.

Free Lunch-n-Learn: Veterans Benefits & Medicare

This educational workshop is designed to help Veterans and their families better understand how Veterans’ health benefits integrate with Medicare and Social Security. Attendees will learn how VA health care works alongside Medicare, what to consider when approaching Medicare enrollment, and how Social Security benefits factor into healthcare and retirement planning. The workshop also addresses common misconceptions, important deadlines, and practical strategies to avoid gaps in coverage or unnecessary penalties.

This session is strictly educational and focused on empowering Veterans with the knowledge needed to make informed healthcare and retirement decisions with confidence.

CGTC Student Shares Journey to AI-Enhanced Robotics Program at Governor's Workforce Summit

"What attracts me to AI-enhanced robotics is the long list of possibilities in manufacturing, healthcare, and other industries in Georgia," she said.

Che’la Pharms, an AI-Enhanced Robotic Manufacturing Specialist student at Central Georgia Technical College (CGTC) shared the impact of workforce development initiatives on her personal goals and academic career alongside Governor Brian Kemp at Thursday's Governor's Workforce Summit in Atlanta.

Pharms makes a nearly two-hour drive from Conyers, Ga., to Warner Robins each class day to learn at one of the state's premier robotics labs at the Georgia Veterans Education Career Transition Resource Center(VECTR) Center operated by CGTC.
