Won Institute of Graduate Studies Won Institute is an accredited graduate school offering Masters and Doctoral programs in Acupuncture, Chinese Herbal Medicine and Won Buddhist Studies.

The Won Institute is the only accredited acupuncture school in Pennsylvania. We pride ourselves on our diverse faculty, many of whom are also professional practitioners, business owners, and meditation practitioners. This gives them a vast amount of knowledge to share with students. Small class sizes allow for a personalized learning environment where faculty and students have the chance to connec

t on a personal level. Along with our master’s degrees, doctorate degrees, and certificates, we also have a fully staffed faculty and student acupuncture clinic that sees patients throughout the week, a well-established library and a variety of events including guest speakers, tai chi and meditation classes and CE events. All of this truly makes the Won Institute a one of a kind learning environment and a great place to go to school.

✨ Alumni Spotlight ✨ Melissa Meyer, L.Ac

🌿 Meet Melissa, a licensed acupuncturist and cosmetologist who graduated from the Won Institute’s Master’s in Acupuncture program in 2023. After 15 years in the beauty industry, Melissa transformed her existing career into an integrative Chinese medicine spa, bringing together her passion for beauty and East Asian Medicine.

☀️ After experiencing burnout and initially wanting to leave the beauty industry altogether, her time at Won reignited her inspiration and curiosity. Chinese medicine’s perspectives and theories completely changed the way she approaches her clients, their needs, and their goals.

💆‍♀️ Inspired to continue growing at the intersection of beauty and medicine, Melissa has pursued advanced certifications in Cosmetic Acupuncture with Michelle Gellis, the FACE program through Pacific College, and most recently, Surgical Microneedling with Franck Joly.

💛 Perhaps her greatest takeaway from her education has been learning to carry the principles and theories of Chinese medicine beyond her professional practice and into her personal life. She shares deep gratitude for the teachers and mentors at Won who have inspired her along the way.
