Good afternoon everyone! I just wanted to reach out with a new and interesting request. We have been contacted about possibly featuring The Junior Fire Academy on a television show and they are requesting about six participants ranging from 8 to 11 years old to possibly participate if your child and yourself are interested in this possibility, please contact me at [email protected]

Class 6 Critique

And that’s a wrap!
Thank you Class 6 for a great week!!

And thank you to Ms. Costa and Mr. Herrick for allowing us to end the night with some Italian ice!

The rain gave us a run for our money in the beginning part of the night, but we were able to adjust and get outside with enough time to be able to go through the evolutions.

The recruits had their third hands-on challenge and practiced for their big structure fire response competition this evening!
We were also visited by the investigators from the Ocean County fire marshal‘s office, who investigated our fire in our house and talked with the recruits about how they determine the cause and origin!

Graduation Night:

Due to the size of the class (72 recruits!) and size and availability within the bay of the academy, chairs are limited this evening. But fret not! I will leave a note for that Brent guy to not be so long-winded.

Typically the entire graduation from beginning to end is only about 20-30 minutes. We will do our best to keep it concise and moving forward to limit the amount of standing time.

And again, if the weather cooperates we will go outside for the competitions and Italian ices.

Night 3! (Not three factorial, though)

The night began with our live burn demonstration and took off from there!

The academy was visited by Station 60, the Forked River FD, and their ladder to receive some information on ladder operations and different tools. Additionally, a new add to the mix, was the Ocean County Sheriff’s Department’s canines who showed the recruits how the canines perform their duties and even took them on a search!

The recruits honed their skills with hose line advancement on the car fire prop, and also some forcible entry and search at the drill tower.

Then over at the burn building, the recruits got on the apparatus and actually responded in on the trucks to extinguish a dwelling fire, force entry and search the building, and laddered it for rescues.
