Ward Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary Promote Fire Safety and Prevention Education and Aid in Serving the Fire Department and the Public

The Ladies Auxiliary is a volunteer organization made up of members who meet these requirements: Members must be 18 years or older and either be from Ward OR have a relative who is a member of the Ward Fire Department or Ladies Auxiliary.

Today, between 10:00 AM and 10:30 AM, the Ward Police Department and Ward Fire Department will stand together to honor the life and ultimate sacrifice of Marked Tree Police Officer Trevor Howard as his procession travels northbound on I-57 on its journey home.

During this time, emergency vehicles will be staged on the Highway 319 overpass at Exit 25 as a visible reminder that a hero's service and sacrifice will never be forgotten. It is a solemn tradition that reflects the deep respect shared among first responders and the communities they serve.

If you are traveling through the area between 10:00 AM and 10:30 AM, we appreciate your patience and understanding as agencies across Arkansas come together to pay their final respects. If you see the procession, please consider slowing down, remaining respectful, and taking a moment to honor a life dedicated to serving others.

Please keep Officer Trevor Howard's family, friends, and the Marked Tree Police Department in your thoughts and prayers today. May they find strength, comfort, and peace in the days ahead.

🚒❤️ The Ward Fire Department Boot Drive is coming up! ❤️🚒

Join us Saturday, May 2nd from 8:00 AM–12:00 PM at the intersection of 2nd & Peyton St. to support our local firefighters and the Ward Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary!

All proceeds will help provide new tools, water, and other necessities for our department. Every donation makes a difference and helps support the people who serve our community every day. 🔥

After last summer's heat and this recent winter weather, the Mayor has decided to repurpose an empty spot to aid those in need. This location is 1 City Plaza at the old CID entrance and is marked in the flyer below. The building will open when it gets below 32 degrees and above 100 degrees. We will utilize the national weather service for temperatures.

While the City is trying to help, the City is not a homeless shelter and has limitations and certain rules. On the flyer it notes a few things:

- no alcohol or drugs allowed
- no pets (service dogs only)
- no leaving and returning (overnight)
- no intoxicated individuals allowed

In addition, there are a few rules that must be followed. These rules will be posted in the center:

- Once the center closes, anyone using the facility must vacate. Before vacating, each person must clean up after themselves. Anything left over will be thrown away. Nothing can be stored.
- Since there is an old camera system in place, we will use these to aid in safety and also make sure there is no more property damage. (Unfortunately there has been property damage recently when these centers are open)

This is still City property so if individuals do not clean up after themselves or destroy property, it may result in temporary or permanent closure.

If you know someone in need please let them know! It looks like we will be below freezing later Sunday and into the first part of the week. We will post on our FB page if and when the center is open moving forward.
