Wahluke High Schools 21st Century Program Auto Detailing Club completed its "End of the Summer" program Saturday August 8 in Desert Aire at the Hot Desert Nights drag race event at the area airport. The Auto Detailing Club is one of 23 programs offered by the 21st Century Program this past year at Wahluke High School. Led by Wapato High School teacher, John Ellsworth, the students are learning how to build and manage a small business. Helping the students in their work was Eckenberg Farms, who donated space for washing and detailing and O’Reilly Auto Parts who donated materials for washing and waxing vehicles. The car in the photo is a 1932 Ford Low Boy. The students completed 12 cars and raised $315 for their club; the money will go toward a new buffer. Jay Scott is the site director in charge of the World Citizens Wahluke High School 21st Century program.
