Throwback Thursday - Students enjoyed an assembly in April where two representatives from the Tackapausha Museum and Preserve brought a few of its small mammals and bird species. Students learned about what types of creatures inhabit the area which can be found just 10 minutes away from Forest Lake Elementary.

Forest Lake's 5th grade class of 2019 walked the halls for the final time this week before taking the next step across the graduation stage as the Wantagh High School c/o 2026! Cheers and special posters met them along the way throughout the hallways. Earlier that morning, the seniors enjoyed a breakfast where Forester made a special appearance!

Fun Fact: The WHS Valedictorian and Salutatorian are both Forest Lake graduates!

The music was pumping, the smiles were wide and the energy was contagious at field day at Forest Lake Elementary School in the Wantagh School District on June 1. The traditional end-of-year celebration brought together students, staff and families for athletic competitions and a dance party.

It was hard work, but the result was rewarding for young writers at Forest Lake Elementary School in the Wantagh School District. Kindergartners in Robin Conte’s class published books that emulated the style of author and illustrator Todd Parr.

The emerging authors had their choice of four stories: “The Feelings Book,” “The Feel Good Book,” “The I Love You Book” or “The Peace Book.” Kindergartners went from learning their letters and sounds in the beginning of the year, to taking an idea and stretching it into a full sentence. Their pattern books had sentences and illustrations related to their respective topics.

Fourth graders completed their unit of the Colonial Period with hands on activities such as butter making, basket weaving, and practicing their cursive writing with quill pens dipped in ink. They even applied for jobs of that era such as town crier, silversmith, and shoe cobbler.
