The High School Band Booster Board met with Mr. Classey last night and began planning for next year. There will be a VERY important parent meeting on Thursday, 5/25 at 6 PM in the high school auditorium. During this meeting we will vote to approve the updated bylaws (linked below), vote on new board members for next year and Mr. Classey will provide all of the information for next year and we will be able to answer any questions that you have. If your child is at all interested in participating in marching band next year, please plan to attend. Marching band is offered to all 8th graders and 7th graders by recommendation of Mr. Classey. If you are unable to attend physically, below is a google meet. Just click the link and you can join from your computer, phone or tablet. There are many very exciting things planned!

Dear parents and students,

It is with true sadness that I write to you in order to inform you of my departure as PSM’s band director. These last six years have been nothing short of amazing. I will not be far, however. With much thought and consideration, I have decided to accept the position as Director of Bands at Philip Simmons High School.

I am beyond thankful for the opportunity I’ve had while here to build a truly amazing program with the best kids and most supportive parents! You have all made this job so easy for me and I cannot thank you enough.

The PSM band has grown from 3 to 150 members in the last six years. It has also routinely represented the school at all county, all region, and all state honor band events while 7th and 8th grade band has consistently played grade level 3 literature for the last three years. With the bands continued growth and success top of mind, we are committed to finding the absolute best replacement possible. Mrs Groves has graciously allowed me permission to sit in on the interviews for my replacement, and together we feel confident we will find the right fit.

I appreciate each of you and your understanding. I will truly miss being a part of such an amazing school with the most supportive admin and of course my amazing students. In the mean time STAY IN BAND! And I’ll see you in just a little while!!

It’s been an awesome weekend full of incredible music making! Congratulations to these two students who after rounds of auditions were selected to be a part of the 2023 SCBDA all state honor band hosted at beautiful Furman University!
