A huge thank you to our amazing volunteers who dedicated their time and hard work to clearing and reopening the White River Trail!

This was no small task. With hundreds of downed trees and limited access, the cleanup was a challenge. Thanks to the hard work and determination of our volunteers, the trail was reopened much sooner than expected.

We also appreciate the Walworth County DPW staff for their coordination, communication, and the support of their crews throughout the cleanup effort.

A special thank you as well to Area Snow Removal and Systems Design for generously donating the use of their equipment. Their support played an important role in helping us complete this massive cleanup effort efficiently.

While there is still work to be done including chipping downed branches along the side of the trail and hauling brush off-site, the trail is now open.

If you head out to enjoy the trail, please take a moment to thank a volunteer. Their hard work made this possible!

Walworth Snowmobile Alliance clubs, members, and snowmobile enthusiasts:

Our thoughts and prayers are with the families of the three young children who tragically lost their lives during Friday afternoon's storms, as well as everyone in our community who was affected by injuries, property damage, and the devastation left behind. Right now, we know that many of our club members are focused on helping their own families, friends, neighbors, and local businesses recover from the storm.

As recovery continues, we are beginning to plan for clearing the White River Trail. This is not an urgent request, but we would like to start identifying volunteers and equipment for when the time is right. Our initial goal will be to remove fallen trees and debris so the trail can be reopened. We will return later in the season for a more thorough cleanup.

If you have equipment such as chainsaws, tractors, skid steers, or other useful machinery and are willing to volunteer when the time comes, please send us an email or message our page. We'll be in touch as plans come together.

Thank you to everyone who has already stepped up to help our community, and to those who are willing to help with the trail when the time is right. Your generosity and commitment are greatly appreciated.

White River State Trail Update!
Just because it’s summer doesn’t mean snowmobile trail work stops.
Today, members of the Walworth County Snowmobile Alliance’s Member Clubs took time out of their summer schedules to complete critical repairs on the White River Trail, months before snow is even on the ground. While we won’t personally benefit from these improvements until winter, this multi-use trail serves the community year-round, providing access for walkers, runners, bicyclists, dog owners, and nature lovers alike.
A huge thank you to our volunteers: Alex, Jamie, Dan, Chuck, and Vijay from the Walworth County DPW for their hard work and dedication. We’d also like to thank BK Property Management, Systems Design and Area Snow Removal for generously lending us equipment to make this project possible.
What could have cost the Snowmobile Alliance more than $20,000 was completed for less than $1,000 in materials thanks to volunteer labor, donated equipment, and a shared commitment to maintaining our local trail system.
We are proud of the positive impact the snowmobile community continues to make, not just during the winter season, but throughout the entire year. These trails belong to everyone, and we’re committed to keeping them safe, accessible, and enjoyable for all users.
Phase 1 of the White River Trail repairs is now complete, with additional improvements still to come. Stay tuned!
