Was just blown away by the documentary on Showtime
about Sinead OConnor, her story of child abuse, church abuse, music/fan abuse. Incredible that her influence was instrumental in Southern Ireland allowing abortion, though her outcry for women’s right to choose was because she wanted to keep her baby, while her the. record company sent her to a doctor trying to force her to get an abortion. How she found her own way to heal (or try to) from her lifelong traumas in the absence of any available treatment. Her story made mw reflect on the generational trauma of Irish women, & descendants thereof. oAnd how religions so easily become so mired in control, secrecy & distortion of their purpose. May she rest in peace, and go to a loving, safe, and validating place🫶🏻🕊️🤟🏼
