Learn basic forming concepts to create beautifully organic forms in this one-day virtual workshop with Taylor Fentz!

On Thursday, September 3, join other students for the virtual class “Fold-Formed Cuff Bracelets,” where, through the meditative process of fold-forming, they will hammer flat sheet metal into two styles of cuff bracelets. The techniques learned in this workshop can easily be applied to designs for earrings, pendants, and more!

Last week, Charles Lewton Brain joined us at Metalwerx for a rare, five-day in-person master class—“Surface Alchemy: Texture, Pattern & Color.” After exploring the rich intersection of surface, texture, and color in contemporary metalwork with Charles, everyone took home amazing new skills to use next time they are at the bench.

We can’t wait to see what the last four Summer Masters have in store for us.

Have you ever looked at a stone or bug or flower you’ve found in the wild and wished it could be a piece of jewelry? Well, you are in luck because many natural and found objects can be cast in metal using the lost wax method, capturing incredible detail and preserving the intricate texture!

In April Wood’s three-day workshop, “Natural Object Casting,” on October 4–October 4, students will be guided through the entire lost wax method casting process to produce a number of cast pieces to use in future projects!

Ready to make beautiful natural pieces into jewelry? Visit metalwerx.org/class-detail/natural-object-casting-1 to sign up for April Wood's "Natural Object Casting!"

What a striking class! We hammered it home! Absolutely smashing! However you want to say it, Douglas Pryor absolutely crushed it last week during his master class, “Exploring High Relief Sculptural Chasing!” We loved spending a full week with Douglas all about the art of chasing, the beautiful fusion of illustration and sculpture (and if you look at the last pictures, you will see that that statement couldn’t be truer).

Thank you so much, Douglas for such an amazing week. We can’t wait until next time you visit Metalwerx!

If you are interested in the color-filled world of polymer clay and metalsmithing, this demo is perfect for you! Bonnie will be combining techniques traditionally used in other media, such as millefiori canes and her own style of marquetry and patterns.
