Clubs in Service (CIS) is an initiative committee focused on encouraging, supporting, and facilitating service opportunities for clubs, residence halls, or any other group of students with a common interest. Through intentional partnerships with the Student Union, Waltham Group, and the Department of Community Service, CIS strives to embrace student talents and interests that mirror the needs of
greater Waltham and allow students to engage with the local community. The largest and most well-known project of CIS is Stanley Family Night, an event in which a number of Brandeis clubs host booths or activities at Stanley Elementary School. The event encourages clubs to share their interests or expertise and forge connections with Waltham children and families. CIS has expanded to connect campus and community through the addition of a new program, Plympton Family Night. Plympton Family Night was modeled after the perennially successful Stanley Family Night and took place in April. The event caters to families of Plympton Elementary School, many of whom live in one of Waltham's affordable housing developments, Prospect Hill Terrace. Both family nights provide fun, carnival-like atmospheres that are free of charge to all families.
