Back-to-dance shopping just got a little better!

Capezio is offering some great savings for the next 3 DAYS ONLY, so we wanted to make sure our Step By Step families had a chance to take advantage of the offer!

We’ve made some updates to our dress code for the 2026–2027 season, and you can head over to our website now to check out the requirements for your dancer’s classes before you shop.

We’ll be sending families more detailed dress code information soon. In the meantime, if you take advantage of this Capezio offer, please hold onto your receipts and keep tags/packaging on your purchases until you receive those details from us.

It’s also a great time to pull out last year’s dance bag and check those shoes, tights and leotards — you might be surprised by how much growing happened over the summer!

Is there a little dancer in your life?

Those first dance classes are about so much more than learning steps.

They’re about walking into the studio a little unsure and discovering, “I can do this!” They’re about making new friends, learning to listen and follow directions, building coordination and confidence — and having so much fun they can’t wait to come back next week.

Our Tiny Tots, Sprouts & Kinderdance classes are designed especially for our youngest dancers, with age-appropriate movement, music, imagination and plenty of encouragement along the way.

No previous dance experience is needed. We’ll meet them right where they are.

Classes begin Saturday, September 12, and online registration for our 2026–2027 season is OPEN!

What a special full-circle moment. 💙

Today I had the opportunity to visit my dear friend Laurene Aldorisio at Academy of Dance Expressions, where she invited me to teach a Jazz class and also share something especially close to my heart — a class I call Beyond the Movement.

Together, the dancers and I explored what happens when movement becomes more than steps — how we react to movement, connect emotion to it, make choices, and ultimately use movement to tell a story.

Laurene and I are both graduates of Dean College, Class of 1990, and our friendship was built so many years ago around a shared love of dance and movement. There is something incredibly special about all these years later getting to reconnect and experience that friendship in a completely different way — still through dance.

During one of our exercises about first impressions, one of the dancers described me as “expressive.”

I’ll take that as a win today. 💙

Thank you, Laurene, for inviting me into your studio and trusting me with your dancers. And thank you to all of the dancers who were willing to explore, take chances, and go a little bit beyond the movement with me.

I was truly honored to be there and so grateful for the opportunity. 💙

Summer isn’t over quite yet…but fall is getting closer!

As families start thinking about school schedules, activities and everything that comes with a new year, don’t forget to save a little space for DANCE.

Whether your dancer is stepping into the studio for the very first time or returning to a place they already love, we can’t wait to welcome them.

And that’s a wrap on Retro Rewind Camp! 💙

I have to give these kids some serious credit. In just four days, they learned a 3½-minute dance for our end-of-week showcase — and they were SO good! The number of formation changes alone was impressive, and watching them remember where they needed to be, what came next, and perform it all with confidence made me incredibly proud.

They worked hard, but there was plenty of fun too. One of the biggest hits of the week was making old-school friendship pins and exchanging them with their friends. I loved watching everyone make sure their friends had one. ❤️

And a HUGE thank you to our incredibly talented staff — Miss Olivia, Miss Sophia, Miss Eva and Miss Shannon. You gave these kids such a fun week and put together a showcase we were all so proud of.

Confession…I grew up in the ‘80s, so I may have been just a little too excited for this week’s Retro Rewind Camp! 😂

The campers have been rocking some amazing ’80s hairstyles, getting their faces painted, dancing, laughing, and today we cooled off with a trip to the water park.

I don’t know who’s having more fun—the kids or me!

A great dance studio is built on more than great classes—it starts with a strong team.

Last Friday, our staff stepped out of the studio and into an Escape Room for our Team Development Day. It was an evening filled with problem-solving, communication, laughter, and teamwork—qualities that we strive to bring into every class we teach.

Investing in our staff means investing in our dancers. When we learn, grow, and challenge ourselves together, we’re better equipped to create a positive, supportive, and encouraging environment for every student who walks through our doors.

A special thank you to our amazing staff for embracing every challenge (and for escaping the clock tower just in time! 😉).
