Special Announcement 🍉 My sister has just released a limited quantity of heirloom watermelon pins handmade by my mother, Feryal Abbasi-Ghnaim. My mother is the inspiration behind the Tatreez Institute, my book Tatreez & Tea, and everything I do. She is a renowned artist and has dedicated her life as a Nakba survivor to preserving Palestinian embroidery in the United States and in the world. Please show your support.

I am deeply honored to wrap the year with Marcel and Isabel talking about the language of my mother’s hands, childhood in the yard, material culture and oral tradition, the intricacies of provenance and appropriation, techniques of cultural erasure, and how Palestinians continue to make critical meaning through the art of dress. Check out Episode 51 at my link in bio. 💜
