We brought our biggest group to NSDA Nationals this week in Richmond, VA!

Congratulations to the following students who represented New England:

Ramu Muthukaruppan- octafinalist in World Schools Debate🏅
Shaurya Panchal- octafinalist in World Schools Debate🏅

Swara Sonchhatra- octofinalist in Spoken Word Poetry and double-octofinalist in Poetry. She is the first student from our team to break in two supplemental events. She also competed in Dramatic Interpretation. 🏅
Aaron Arora competed in Informative Speaking and the supplemental event of Expository.
Anna Pileggi competed in Humorous Interpretation and the supplemental event of Storytelling.
Hemant Selvamurugan competed in Big Questions Debate.

Thank you to our debate coach Trent and the parents who judged and supported them throughout the tournament. We are so grateful for your support!

Speech President Swara Sonchhatra in Dramatic Interpretation
Speech Vice-President Aaron Arora in Original Oratory
Debate President Ramu Muthukaruppan in Policy Debate
Team Treasurer Shaurya Panchal in Policy Debate

Walpole Speech and Debate is extremely excited to share that we have new inductees into the NSDA Academic All Americans: Juniors Ramu Muthukaruppan and Aaron Arora! Ramu serves currently as our Debate President while Aaron is our Speech Vice-President. Along with their leadership and service, they were able to join this club by competing often and accumulating many NSDA points and also having high GPAs. This school plaque is located with the other school plaques in the main lobby. Bravo! You both make our team very proud! 🏆

Aaron Arora- 4th in Info and 6th in POI
Elaina Shobin- 6th in Radio
Vivian Leong- Honorable Mention in Radio
Damien Black competed in Impromptu
Roma Byragoni competed in Radio
Ashley Cruz competed in Declamation
Neil Mepani competed in Radio
Catarina Miranda competed in Play
Aruyha Panchakshari competed in Group Discussion
Vanya Singh competed in Original Oratory
Swara Sonchhatra competed in DI, OO, and Radio

Prom was also last night, so many juniors and seniors couldn’t compete yesterday, but Mrs. Murray was so proud of the students who did compete because:

Another coach said yesterday that Walpole students are some of the nicest kids in the league!
