Hooper Institute The Hooper Institute is housed in a large, Georgian style building on Prospect Hill Road in Walpole, NH.

Hooper Institute is an educational institute that provides enrichment to the Walpole community in agriculture, environmental studies, botany, forestry, and soils. Downstair is a large woodshop used for a summer woodworking camp. Upstairs is the Farm & Forest Museum, housing old tools from Walpole's past. This museum is open by appointment to school and youth groups.

🐝Save seeds. Support pollinators. Grow something good! 🦋

Join the Hooper Institute and the Harris Center on September 17 for a hands-on workshop about saving seeds from native plants, vegetables, pollinator favorites, and more! You'll get practice with different seed-saving techniques and leave with a few of our favorite seeds to try next season.

🌻Have seeds at home that you don't know how to save? Bring them in and we will see if we can help!

There are so many ways to enjoy the harvest long after the growing season ends!

At our Canning and Preserving Workshop last week, participants learned the basics of canning, dehydrating, and freezing. We then put those new skills to work by making pickles and blueberry jam to take home. 🫐🥒

Our Student Presentation Night was a wonderful reminder of what happens when young people are given opportunities to learn, grow, and lead.

Our high school summer workers and scholarship recipients shared their experiences, what they learned, and how these opportunities have shaped their goals and confidence. We are so proud of each student for their hard work and thoughtful presentations, and we can't wait to see what else they accomplish this summer and in the future!

Last 2 days of Adventure Camp! ⛰️🥾

We ended with hikes to Kingsbury Mtn and the Hooper Shelter. Many games of camouflage and fire, water, tree, along with an awesome campfire to finish off a great week. Keep exploring campers and see you next school year!

Adventure Camp Day 1 and 2! 🥾🍄

We have explored Alcott Falls, Academy Ravine, and Distant Hill! Lots of salamanders, stream crossings, plant identification, and games in the woods plus a special stop to our community gardens. What a fun crew and great time exploring all that Walpole has to offer!

Thank you Michael for a great tour today of Distant Hill. We are so excited that we set a new record for salamander sightings with 164 salamanders!🦎
