I'm not good at tooting my own horn. I'm not great a self-promotion. That's why I am so grateful to Lisa Rodriguez, our TITLE V Grant coordinator here at Mt. SAC for taking interest in our program and in our students. She helped coordinate and film this quick interview with 3 of our recent program completers: Luci Caracheo, David Leventura, and Art Lopez. All three are L.A. City Certified Structural Steel welders. Art and David are working with the Local 433 Ironworkers. Luci is working with the Glaziers' Union.

Mt. SAC Welding UPDATE!!!
This is the start of Week 14!! Next week will be the LAST WEEK of arcs and sparks!! The LAST DAY to complete your practical plate tests will be Saturday, June 4th.
Looks like our Summer 2016 course offerings are all full up!! If you are trying to add classes for summer, I would suggest keeping an eye on your portal account. Occasionally, people drop classes at the last minute and spots open up.
If you are unable to add that class you need for Summer, just remember the registration for FALL 2016 opens up on July 13!!

SPREAD THE WORD: Enrollment for Summer 2016 begins Wednesday, May 11!! Check your Mt. SAC student email or your portal account for your registration date information.
We will be offering WELD 40 - Introduction to Welding which will meet Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday mornings from 8:30am till 12:10pm, taught by Allan Newell.
We will also be offering WELD 53A - Welding Metallurgy which will meet Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday evenings from 6pm to 8:45pm, taught by John Kuchta. This is a lecture only class, and is a required course for the Welding Associates Degree as well as our welding academic certificates. Ordinarily, WELD 53A is only available Spring semesters.
Lastly, we will be offering WELD 51 - Basic Electric Arc Welding which will meet Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday evenings from 6:00pm to 9:40pm, taught by Dan Garcia.
Summer session begins the week of June 20th and ends July 29th 2016.

We would like to extend CONGRATULATIONS to the 26 Mt. SAC Welding students who passed the L.A. City written exam for Structural Steel certification!!! We would also like to thank the L.A. City Department of Building and Safety for coming out to the Mt. SAC Campus to proctor the written exam here at our facility!!
We had 26 of 29 students pass the written exam for a 90% pass rate for Spring semester! Great job!!

Welcome to Week 5 of Spring Semester!!
We are cruising along, burning through rods and material!!
Later in the semester, I will be posting some more information about Mt. SAC Welding's academic certificate offerings.
With our increased enrollment, I would hope that would also equal an increase in the number of certificates our students complete.
Also, if you are a current or former student at Mt. SAC Welding, and you are employed as a welder, or if you have been promoted or given a raise as a result of the classes you have taken with us, we would really love to hear from you!!

Second day of the semester!!
We have TWO classes on Tuesday mornings: WELD 50 Oxy-Fuel Welding with Dan Londo AND a WELD 70B Intermediate Arc Welding class with Dan Garcia that meets Tuesday and Thursday mornings. There are still two or three seats available in the WELD 70B section.

Welcome to SPRING 2016!!
We added a new section of WELD 40 Monday mornings at 8:00am (as in, right NOW!) Might a couple seats left in that class.
Later this afternoon, we have a WELD 70A Beginning Arc Welding class as well as another section of WELD 40 Intro to Welding.
This evening, WELD 70C Welder Certification; WELD 90B Semi-Automatic Welding and WELD 50 Oxy-Fuel Welding.

We are here this short week!! Welding classes continue like normal right up until 9:45pm on Wednesday night!! Then it's off for turkey time!!

WOW!! I didn't realize I had been away from our FB page for so long!! I apologize.
It's a been a pretty busy semester.
We welcome a new full-time instructor to Mt. SAC Welding, Allan Newell. Allan replace Ben Eisley after Ben retired. Allan comes to us with more than 20 years experience teaching welding at the Chino Institution for Men.
Ben is enjoying his retirement plus he is back teaching one class this semester, the certification class, WELD 70C.

L.A. City Written Exam for Structural Steel Welder certification is happening THIS MORNING!! Wishing all our students the best of luck!! Don't forget to breathe!!

We are in Week 11 of Spring Semester 2015!! Time flies! We have about four and a half weeks of welding time left in the semester. Plan accordingly.

Even though we are in the midst of Spring Semester, I wanted to pass along some info regarding Summer 2015:

Registration for Summer 2015 opens up on May 13, 2015. Watch your "mymtsac.edu" portal account for enrollment information. IF YOU ARE NOT REGISTERED YET (if you don't already have a portal account) GET YOUR ACCOUNT STARTED NOW!! You must register with the college first, before you are allowed to enroll for classes.

Mt. SAC Welding will be offering 3 CLASSES THIS SUMMER!! This is a first!!
WELD 40 - Intro to Welding - CRN 10801 - 2 Units - meets Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday mornings from 8:30am to 12:10pm.
WELD 53A - Welding Metallurgy - CRN 11730 - 3 Units - meets Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday afternoons from 2:00pm to 4:45pm.
WELD 51 - Basic Electric Arc Welding - CRN 10510 - 2 Units - meets Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday evenings from 6:00pm to 9:40pm.
