“Since Monday, September 21, 2020, Hensley has been on a leave of absence as a result of the investigation. However, the district’s report failed to treat allegations of Hensley’s ​racism​ with the same seriousness as his s*xual miscondut, and therefore, ​AUHSD’s decision upholds white supremacy and fails to protect students of color.
AUHSD’s decision is unacceptable and unfair to Black students and non-Black students of color who were targeted by Taron Hensley while attempting to go to school.​ An educator’s racist behavior toward ​one​ student should be sufficient to constitute discrimination on the basis of race; in this case, multiple​ students spoke to the investigator about Hensley’s racism, and AUHSD still failed to proprely assess his offenses. ​By deciding that Hensley’s racism doesn’t constitute “discrimination on the basis of race,” AUHSD fails to take BIPOC experiences seriously.​ By protecting racist educators like Hensley, AUHSD is setting a low bar for the quality of their students’ education, but more significantly, ​AUHSD is continuing to endanger Black students and non-Black students of color on their campuses. The reason for this appeal is simple: ​students of color deserve to be supported and protected at school. Thank you for ensuring the re-examination of AUHSD’s decision and supporting zero-tolerance for racism in AUHSD.”

why is hensley's substitute teacher defending hensley's s*xual misconduct? and why is the sub telling Hensley's students he's been
friends with Hensley ever since working with him at deer valley? (before Hensley was suspended of course, and rehired by auhsd).

actually, keeping child abusers away from students IS an ideal situation. "not ideal" is keeping a known abuser in your classrooms. but that's according to us. according to YOU, what is "not ideal"? admitting wrongdoing? being accountable to how you've enabled an abuser?

your vagueness shows lack of empathy for the students who have been harmed.  through silence, you have reinforced your complacency in racism and s*xism. in case you didn't retain it from one of your diversity trainings, fear of open conflict is a characteristic of white supremacy culture.

the "safety and well being" of your students is "top priority" ? please release the investigation report and prove your commitment. oh wait - the  report cites   your "failure to comply" with AUHSD policies for student safety.

you know, taron hensley is only a mirror for your school: rooted in white supremacy, patriarchy, and upheld by the toxic (in)actions of "leaders" like yourself. WE CALL ON PRINCIPAL

AUHSD is responsible for allowing Hensley’s behavior for over a decade. Let us not forget the investigation and findings of Hensley’s guilt only occurred due to immense amounts of student labor & AUHSD finally fulfilling their legal duties. The district still must to prove accountability and willingness to change.

when benson didnt do anything, i was crushed and it’s really negatively affected me with other harassment-related experiences after the fact. thank you for starting this account and putting pressure on the school. it mustve been hard and/or triggering for you guys to go through this and hear all these stories and receive backlash on top of it... i mean, just reliving it for the rally was giving me panic attacks for a few weeks and yall have been in the thick of it for months... this just feels... like im not crazy for thinking he [hensley] was horrible and the district actually agrees now ???? yeah im gonna cry thank yall so much”
