Contra Costa Christian Schools We are a private Christian School, serving preschool - high school students in the Bay Area!

Contra Costa Christian Schools was established in 1978 as a high school to serve families in the Walnut Creek area. The school opened classed with approximately 85 students in grades 9 to 11. The high school expanded its program to include grades 9 to 12 in subsequent years. In the early 1980s, families opened a separate school to serve K-8 families called Woodlands Christian School. Woodlands Christian School purchased the current campus and rented space to the high school in the early 1980s. Although the two schools were separate entities, they shared the same campus to serve students K-12. As families and siblings crossed both programs, the schools merged to create Contra Costa Christian Schools that now spans preschool through high school. Over the last 35 years, Contra Costa Christian Schools has maintained its original mission to Prepare the Next Generation with Christian values and a quality academic foundation. While the instructional strategies and curriculum has evolved since its founding, the core mission of serving families in the East Bay remains the same. Contra Costa Christian Schools provides a high quality 21st century education within a Christian context that equips students for success in whatever field of study or career they choose to pursue.

Our older elementary students love meeting with our younger students as buddies! Today our 2nd and 5th grade buddies got together to challenge each other to an adding game using dice and Tenzi! This year they’ve also interviewed each other and enjoyed a friendly game of Apples to Apples. We love watching these friendships grow across grade levels!

Our preschool students have been busy building, creating, experimenting, and figuring things out!

Behind every block tower and sensory experiment is real learning in action. When preschoolers build, test, and adapt, they are developing early math skills, spatial awareness, fine motor strength, and creative problem-solving.

Our teachers guide this process by setting up purposeful spaces and asking open-ended questions that prompt children to think critically, test their ideas, and figure things out independently.

Our 1st through 5th graders read 160,245 pages this summer and they got to celebrate their accomplishment at Camp Read S’more. We had a record-breaking 100 students join in on the celebration, marking our largest attendance ever for the event. Extra applause goes to our top overall reader, who tackled an unbelievable 21,353 pages. Every student enjoyed a delicious lunch generously donated by Chick-fil-A, along with dessert, a fun goodie bag, and a free book to take home and keep the reading momentum going. Way to go, readers—we are so proud of your hard work!
