On March 14th Families Without Borders celebrated a meaningful milestone — their 10-year reunion of their first graduation ceremony. It was a powerful gathering that brought together alumni from across a decade, reflecting the lasting impact of the organization’s work and the strength of its community.
FWB Founder & Executive Director Terri Khonsari was in attendance, helping to mark the occasion and reconnect with so many individuals whose lives have been shaped by the program. The event was generously sponsored by Leone Rock Metal Group, whose support helped make the celebration possible.

FWB students marked the International Day of Education by visiting three schools across Sierra Leone. At two schools, they engaged pupils in discussions on key public health topics, raising awareness and encouraging positive health practices both at school and at home. At the third school, they focused on climate justice, emphasizing environmental responsibility and the vital role young people play in protecting their environment.

In December 25, FWB alumni and students came together for our annual alumni-led retreat. The weekend was filled with meaningful learning, reflection, deep connection, and leadership development. Students also had the opportunity to serve their community by visiting a local orphanage and sharing snacks with the children. We are deeply grateful to the alumni who generously gave their time, energy, and hearts to make this weekend so special.

Families Without Borders students and fellows, together with students from Wells Mountain Imitative (WMI), recently marked the International Day of the Girl Child by visiting five schools across Sierra Leone. During their visits, they held programs for both girls and boys.
The girls were educated on the importance of menstrual hygiene and spent the day making reusable sanitary pads. The boys received education aimed at reducing menstrual stigma. The program reached over 2,200 youth and over 3,000 sanitary pads were created for over 800 girls.
We were excited to partner with WMI for this project. WMI is a non profit organization that does similar work in Sierra Leone. Thank you to their students who helped make this program a success!
