Little me didn’t know what a beautiful life lay ahead. Nor the challenges to come. I honor her innocence and resilience today.

I need this today! Maybe you do too?

"More and more we try to effect an adaptation to life by means of external gadgets, and attempt to solve our problems by conscious thinking rather than unconscious “know-how.” This is much less to our advantage than we like to suppose.”
- Alan Watts

Perhaps this quote is deeply true for the modern world.
Today, human beings constantly try to adapt to life through:
technology,
systems,
techniques,
“self-improvement” methods,
and endless external tools.
We believe that if we gain:
more knowledge,
more apps,
more strategies,
more control,
then we will finally live better.
But the paradox is:
the more we try to control life through thought,
the further we drift from living naturally.
We forget that there is already
a deep natural intelligence within us —
a living intuition that does not come from overthinking.
You do not “think” for your heart to beat.
You do not analyze how to keep balance while walking.
An artist in a state of flow is no longer calculating every brushstroke.
A person who is fully present sometimes knows exactly what to say without rehearsing it in the mind.
This is a different kind of intelligence.
It appears when we are no longer trapped in excessive self-control.
But modern society often pushes us in the opposite direction:
thinking too much,
analyzing everything,
constantly monitoring ourselves,
trying to manage life like a machine.
And slowly,
we lose our naturalness.
People no longer know how to relax.
No longer know how to listen to intuition.
No longer know how to be fully present.
Some even need to “learn” how to be happy again.
Alan Watts was not against technology or logical thinking.
He simply warned that when the conscious mind tries to dominate all of life,
it creates tension, separation, and exhaustion.
Some things in life cannot be solved by thinking more.
Love.
Peace.
Creativity.
Meditation.
The feeling of being connected to life itself.
These things often appear
when we stop trying to control everything.
Maybe true intelligence does not arise
when the mind is working the hardest —
but when we finally allow life to flow through us.
