Student Spotlight from Keira! 🎶✨

Keira has had an incredibly exciting start to her first year at the University of Virginia! At the beginning of the year, Keira auditioned for the a capella groups on campus and was invited to join three of the most prestigious and sought after groups on campus: Hoos in Treble, New Dominions, and Hoos in the Stairwell. Keira committed to New Dominions and we know she’ll have an incredible year singing with them!

The excitement doesn’t stop there: Keira was cast as Cinderella in Into the Woods with First Year Players, the oldest running student-run theater performance group at UVA. It’s an incredible accomplishment to be cast in a leading role!

We’re thrilled for Keira! Congratulations on a wonderful and fruitful first semester at college! 🌟🎭

Student Spotlight! ✨

Congratulations to our singers starring in “The Best Christmas Pageant Ever” at Four County Players this fall! We’re proud to have such a strong WD studio presence in the cast, and are thrilled that so many of our students get to sing together in person.

Performances run November 20-December 13. If you find yourself in Central Virginia this holiday season and want to support our studio singers, and see a great show, we highly recommend seeing this production featuring a stellar cast!

Announcing the October Studio Events! 🎤🎶

Join us on Sunday, October 18 at 11am ET for Music Theory Crash Course for Singers, a pop up class led by Annie. At 12pm ET (immediately following Annie’s class), join us for an hour of music and community at our October Open Mic. Share your favorite song, practice for an upcoming audition, or come to cheer on your peers!

Congratulations to Annabel, Ellie, and Harrison on being cast in Frozen at St. Anne’s! ❄️

This winter, a group of our singers will star in St. Anne’s production of Frozen! We’re so thrilled for Annabel, Ellie, and Harrison and know they’re going to do an excellent job bringing these beloved characters to life!

Zoe and Quinn took Abby’s Musical Theater Acting class last spring and had a blast! After working with Abby on their audition pieces, Zoe and Quinn gave performances that were full of energy, specificity, and emotional commitment. Teacher Spotlight! ✨✨

Congratulations to Abby C. Smith on opening Mean Girls at the Paramount Theatre! 🎭💗

Abby wears a lot of hats in this production! In addition to playing the Mathletes Moderator she’s understudying Mrs. Heron, Ms. Nordbury, and Mrs. George! Performances run August 26-October 11 at the Paramount Theatre in Aurora, IL. If you’re in Illinois, you don’t want to miss what is sure to be an incredible run of performances!

After Mean Girls closes, Abby will return to WD Studio to lead our fall acting classes for teens and pre-teens. Be sure to register for fall acting classes at the link in our bio!

Student Spotlight! ✨✨

Congratulations to WD Studio singer Cooper who’s joining the National Tour of The Sound of Music this month! 🎶🏔️🐐

Cooper will play Friedrich in the North American touring production of The Sound of Music. The tour starts on September 8 in Dallas,TX. From there, Cooper will travel all over North America performing alongside Broadway and West End professionals! We’re so proud of Cooper and are cheering him on as he begins this exciting journey! 🌟

If you’re looking to improve your belt this fall, Wesley is offering a Belting Vocal Technique Intensive course: Build Your Belt! This group class is ideal for singers who want to unlock their most powerful singing. Through targeted exercises assigned in class and consistent practical application, you’ll see improvement in the strength and ease of your belt within a few weeks. Classes begin September 22, and all singers ages 13+ are invited to register!

Work alongside a Broadway professional this Fall in Musical Theater Acting with Abby! 🎭

Join Abby C. Smith in Musical Theater Acting for Teens and Pre-Teens this Fall. This course is designed for the serious singing actor looking to deepen their artistry and elevate their storytelling abilities. Through personalized coaching on two songs, students will strengthen their acting technique and discover new ways to explore their emotional depths as a performer.

Classes run October 18-November 22, and registration is currently open.
Musical Theater Acting for Pre-Teens (11-13): Sundays, 11:00am-12:15pm ET
Musical Theatre Acting for Teens (14-18): Sundays, 12:15pm-1:30pm ET

🎥 Jack Wielar singing “Not a Chance in Hell” from Mythic at the Core Program Cabaret in March. Jack performed this piece at the Virginia and Mid-Atlantic NATS competitions and won in his category! Jack was a student of Wesley’s for nearly 10 years, and is now pursuing his BFA in Musical Theatre at NYU Tisch. ⭐️🎶🎭
