The Stokes Early College High School is a North Carolina Cooperative and Innovative High School located in the Meadows community of Walnut Cove, N.C. The program is a partnership between Stokes County Schools and Forsyth Tech, in cooperation with the Stokes County Government. The Stokes Early College opened in the fall of 2009 with 48 ninth grade students. The school is organized so that around fi

fty rising ninth grade students are admitted each year and typically has an enrollment between 160-180 students. The Stokes Early College is a public school that draws students from all parts of the Stokes County School District; however, it is selective in admissions and has high expectations of its students. The Stokes Early College gives strong consideration to students who are the first in their families to attend college, economically disadvantaged students, students academically at-risk, and those traditionally underrepresented in higher education; however, all interested students are strongly encouraged to apply for admission to the Stokes Early College. Students at the Stokes Early College experience a rigorous academic schedule and students can earn a high school diploma and up to a two-year college degree in 4 or 5 years. We hope that everyone had a great weekend.

Speaking of Nests, students remember that you will earn Nest Points every day for your Nest group by being present in each of your high school classes.

- Tues, Sep 1 we will have our first college grade check.

- Sat, Sep 5 the Interact Club is having their annual Car Wash fundraiser 8-12 at Advance Auto in King.

- We have several Club Interest Meetings coming up during lunch time this week. Students, we encourage you to get involved to help keep our clubs thriving.

A Little Look Ahead:

- Mon, Sep 7 there will be no school due to the Labor Day Holiday.

- Tues, Sep 8 the Crepes & Creamery Food Truck will be in the college parking lot 8-12 for those who wish to purchase something before school, between classes, or during lunch.

- Thurs, Sep 10 is the final day to order Mums during the Annual Prom Committee Fundraiser. Reach out to a Prom Committee Member or contact Ms. Smith at school to order your mums for the fall season ([email protected]).

- Fri, Sep 11 we will have high school classes as usual; however, for the few students who have Friday college classes, those are canceled for that day.

- Mon, Sep 21 is SECHS Night at Dairi-O in King 5-8pm. 10% of all sales will be donated to SECHS during this time. Join us for dinner and support our school.

- Purchase your copy of the 2026-2027 Yearbook. Order by Oct 31 and get 10% off. The Yearbook covers school events Aug-May, is published in June, and available in July. Find ordering information on our website under “News.” Mr. Clary has a few extra 2025-2026 yearbooks still available. See him if you would like to buy one.

- Tues, Aug 25 will be our first PTO meeting at 6pm. Please come and join us in the B Bldg Multipurpose Room by the Picnic Shelter.

- Wed, Aug 26 at 5:30pm there will be another interest meeting for the 2028 EF Tour Greece Trip in Ms. Smith’s room, A Bldg, Rm 116. This meeting is for those who were unable to attend the first interest meeting back in May and all grades are welcome. Please RSVP "yes" or "interested" for a chance to win a partial travel scholarship and to receive more information about the trip! This trip is sponsored by EF Tours, not the school.

- Thurs, Aug 27 we are having a Welcome Back Falcon Skate Night at the Skate Factory in King, 6:30-8:30pm. For $6, students and guests can skate for those 2 hours, including skate rental. Snacks will also be for sale. The Skate Factory parking and entrance is now in the back of the building at 416 W King St in King. Attend and earn points for your Nest Group. Tell your friends.
