Today, we celebrated the inaugural Tim McCloskey Memorial Scholarship for Ga***rd Sports Association and its first recipient, Joe Stone. 💚

Created through an endowment gift from the McCloskey Family Foundation for Spinal Cord Injury, the $5,000 annual scholarship supports adaptive sports and recreation for athletes with spinal cord injury.

Joe has been part of the Ga***rd Sports Association since 2015 and has become a leader within the Ga***rd Warriors wheelchair rugby team as a captain, mentor and advocate for adaptive sports. This year, the scholarship will help support his continued participation with the Warriors, including new wheels for his rugby chair and travel expenses for competition.

In 2002, Tim McCloskey experienced an accident that left him paralyzed from the chest down. But his injury did not define him. He spent 20 years working as a counselor at Country Kids in Brookfield, where he devoted himself to helping young people. The $5,000 annual scholarship carries that spirit forward by helping adaptive athletes participate in the sports they love, building confidence, independence, friendships and community along the way.

We were honored to celebrate Joe alongside Tim’s parents, Joe and Jeanette, and his aunt Katherine, and to carry forward Tim’s legacy by helping make adaptive sports opportunities possible for athletes in our community.

Congratulations, Joe! And thank you to the McCloskey family for making this scholarship possible. 💚

⛳️ A great day on the course at the Golf Club of Avon!

We’re here with an awesome group of Ga***rd Sports Association adaptive golfers for The Hartford / Move United Golf Tournament to support a great cause!

Funds raised through today’s tournament help support adaptive sports equipment grants and competitive sports opportunities through Move United Sport and The Hartford’s adaptive sports initiatives to make adaptive equipment and sports more accessible.

We’re proud to be a part of this event, spreading awareness about the benefits of adaptive sports and helping create more opportunities for athletes of all abilities to get in the game! 💚

Two Wolfpack ladies are headed to Team USA! 🇺🇸🏒

Congratulations to Hope Magelky and Rebecca Mann on being selected to the USA Women’s National Para Ice Hockey Team!

While Hope and Rebecca head off to Team USA, the Wolfpack is headed to Pennsylvania for our first tournament of the season! Let’s go, Wolfpack! 🐺🏒

We’re sharing some of our favorite photos from an incredible day on the water at our Veterans Fishing Tournament on Lake Congamond on Tuesday! 🎣📸

A huge thank you to our 24 veterans who joined us, our volunteer boat captains from Connecticut BASS Nation, and everyone who helped make this event possible.

We are incredibly grateful for the support of Move United Sport, the VA Adaptive Sports Grant, Linde, the Regan Foundation, and Lew's Rod and Reels!

From the early morning launch to the final weigh-in and awards, it was a great day of fishing, camaraderie, and time together on the water.

“It’s not just fishing, this is therapy.”

The Ga***rd Sports Association recently teamed up with Connecticut BASS Nation and the Maj. Steven Roy Andrews Fishing Outreach Program Inc. to host a free fishing tournament for disabled veterans on Lake Congamond. 🎣

With donated equipment and volunteer boat captains, 23 veterans had the opportunity to get out on the water, relax and enjoy the day.

We’re grateful to everyone who helped make this day possible and to the veterans who joined us.
