Professional guitar instructor with over 27 years of full time teaching experience. Teaching Rock, Blues, Country, Folk, Jazz, Bass - Acoustic or Electric.

Learning guitar is more, much more, than learning a few chords on the internet. It's an artistic journey...it's about finding a voice through a musical instrument. Whether it's just to play your favorite song with friends or alone, wail a theatrical solo or put music to your own written thoughts...it's an artistic journey. An instructor is vital in that there's as many unique paths on this journey

a there are unique people and personalities. I started this path myself over 30 years ago playing and writing music on guitar and although it was (and still is) a passion of mine, teaching was always where I felt my true calling was. So I started teaching after graduating high school and I made it my full time career ever since. At the core of what I believe as an instructor is that anyone can learn to play music. Anyone. In my 25 years of teaching - young and old, big and small, I've never met anyone that wouldn't be successful if they applied themselves...even minimally. One of my favorite sayings is "success is the sum of small efforts, performed day in and day out". Even massive results could be achieved following this statement. There are no magic bullets nor are some people just "born with it". If you want to play guitar, you will. The first step requires believing in yourself. In addition to my 25 years a being a professional private instructor my guitar experience includes:
Attended University of New Haven for Music and Sound Recording. Worked at Trod Nossel recording studio as a sound engineer.
5 years at Choate Rosemary Hall Summer Program teaching a guitar and beginning songwriting class (1992-1997). Writing, performing and recording my own music (acoustic and electric) with my wife in our band "If Not For Dreaming..." (www.ifnotfordreaming.com)

Last night 31 of our students (8 bands) performed at TCB Billiards in North Haven. It was SUCH A GREAT TIME!!!!! We all had so much fun!!!! Want to send a HUGE shout out to the ownership and staff at TCB for always being there to support us. They no longer have bands but have consistently opened their doors for us to let out students shine. When you have a mission and stick to it you attract others who share your same vision and TCB has always been that for us! Great job to the students and HUGE thanks to the parents, family and friends that stayed all night to give everyone that ROCK STAR treatment :)

We want to thank our talented students for performing so well in Wallingford Community Theaters production of “School of Rock”! So proud of our team…we are so lucky to have such hard working students and parents with us! We also want to thank our Director Mary Ellen Eckels for asking us to be the pit band on this great show - she works so hard to put on the best shows and make magic happen every year.
Congrats to all who crewed, performed and supported - we were lucky to be a part of it!

This Thursday, Friday and Saturday night many of our schools talented and hard working musicians will be playing and acting in this years Wallingford Community Theaters performance of “School of Rock” - they have all worked so hard to make this event special - so please come out and support ALL the town’s wonderful musicians and actors, cast and crew and our towns very talent and hard working director. Below is the link… again - this coming Thursday, Friday and Saturday starting at 7:30 at Lyman Hall High School.

Had a great show with 5 of our adult bands at The Cellar on Treadwell! Huge thank you for accommodating our crew on such a short notice - always so supportive of our school and its musicians! Super fun night! (Best chicken tenders I’ve ever had!)

If Not For Dreaming... will be playing tomorrow Friday May 13th, 2022 at 7:30pm at the Cellar for the CT ROCKS Fest and this SATURDAY May 14th at Bleachers in Bristol at 9:00pm

WALLINGFORD BANDS TAKE OVER 10SELDEN IN WOODBRIDGE!! Last Sunday 4 of our house bands played a great show to a full house at 10Selden in Woodbridge. The show included The Young Vampires, Heiress and Non-Friction in their penultimate performance. It also featured Maximum Drive in their first performance ever!! We want to thank everyone at 10Selden and Neurotronix Records for being so supportive of our bands and making our bands and parents feel so at home. We are so proud of them and the work they did!!
NEXT PERFORMANCE is August 15th, 2021 at TCB in North Haven CT (start time 3:00) - check back on facebook for more details in the coming weeks!

Were back at TCB in North Haven this Saturday night - June 26th, 2021!! Billiards, drinks and our 70's, 80's and 90's rock set (and of course some disco thrown in!) We will be having our friend Erik Northrop performing as well between sets - guys a great entertainer and musician! Take a break and come hang out with us!!

Amity and I will be playing with our original music band "If Not For Dreaming..." Saturday June 5th in Wallingford! Right outside Fabi's Pizza. We start 7:00 sharp followed by our friends "Hard March" GOing to be a great rock show - lots of music and Pizza (if youre so inclined! Its awesome Pizza so make it a complete night and get a pie!)
