Yesterday the kids and I “closed our eyes and breathed in sound” the sounds of September… grasshoppers and crickets serenaded us all day long and we NOTICED. I woke up around 3:30 am to the hoot of a Barred Owl, I just smiled until I fell back to sleep.
Right now, I hear the ruckus of squirrels, crows and chipmunks as the sun comes up behind the silhouettes of Oaks and Pines. ( I capitalize on purpose) You guys, watching and listening to all of the kids during FBN is such a gift… it’s different now. After reading The Anxious Generation and just “knowing” things thru experience (wait, hold on, I’m listening to Cardinals now… one sec) I see their time outside and together differently, deeper, more meaningful. Childhood comes and goes like a rogue gust of wind and it’s one “thing” we can’t push a button for to get back, ever. Sometimes I wish I could just sit all day long and write… but, there’s lessons to prepare, dishes to be washed and chickens to be fed among a million other things. I want the time to dig deep and express fluently what I witness and experience through the days with all of the kids. ( and the year JUST STARTED! But, it’s PART of me…make sense? Maybe not.)
I often take in the sights and sounds of our world and just start crying…( not with the kids lol) TMI? Maybe, but I don’t care. Nature is THE gift of ALL gifts and I am beyond grateful. I’ve often said to a friend, “I just wish I could take Nature in and devour it or soak in it so it IS me.” I know, we are Nature, and we CAN devour it lol, but I mean, everything… Her SONG. I want to be wrapped up in it always with her melody in my ears and her ways, mine. We are in the NE of our 2024-2025 Fit by Nature year…where the sun juuuuust starts to glow. In May, we’ll be in the NW…with so much wisdom and experiences in our backpacks, with the sun beginning to set on our homeschool year together. The year flies by like a Scarlet Tanager in the woods-quickly. My mission: to try my best to help the kids absorb ALL of Nature to where they move and innately feel like a deer, or see a White Oak as a dear friend and KNOW that it’s a keystone in our biome and we MUST protect it. To dance under a sky of low hanging clouds feeling like they are holding hands, to sing a Cardinal’s song in their heart as they play in the White Pine.
Nothing matters more than our gift of Nature, it’s right up there with our loved ones. I encourage all the Fit by Nature families to make Nature a part of every day, together. Sit outside and point to the Hawk and the apples hanging heavy, inhale Autumn as it refreshes your lungs and energizes your bones, take time to REALLY gaze at your harvest in all of its remarkable colors and thank it, bless it, for it will literally create your bones, your mind and your heart…
I didn’t intend on writing anything this morning but thanks for indulging me for those that read it. I can’t express how grateful I am to spend time with Mother Nature AND your sweet kids. You may be sick of hearing me say that, but you guys, it’s a gift to me. I thank you. I pray for my sons each morning and include your kids, they are wrapped up in that hug too- every single day.
…”equip them with strength, wisdom and resilience to overcome challenges and to seize opportunities with courage and integrity.”
A part of the prayer.
Because strength, wisdom and resilience are all messages we receive from the storybook of Nature.
Love yas!
Thanks for reading😊
Make this day one to remember with a smile!✌️♥️🌳
