Soo whats the real takeaway here:
The PTO isn’t a club for “the super involved”, or FMO (“For Moms Only”)-It’s a structure for a shared effort, and surprisingly welcoming when you actually step into it without judgement.

Myth #5 . “It’s all meetings, agendas, and confusing procedures. What the heck is Robert’s Rules, anyway?”

🛑FALSE🛑 yes meetings exist and the Procedures are for a reason.
Our PTO meetings are actually pretty practical—and sometimes surprisingly short. Think updates, planning events, sharing ideas, and occasionally someone trying to figure out how much pizza is too much pizza for the spring dance.
You can often attend, listen, and leave with a better sense of what’s happening at your school, even if you never speak once

Myth #4 -“If you join, you’ll be voluntold into running everything forever”

🛑FALSE🛑 We get it! Nobody wants to go to a PTO meeting and become the chairperson of EVERYTHING! PTOs don’t work like that (and if they do, they shouldn’t). Most roles are flexible. Tasks from home? Yep, it’s a thing. Not to be dramatic, but if everyone gave one hour, imagine the impact we could make on our school communities?

Myth #3 Everyone already knows each other, so I’d be the outsider😳😔

🛑FALSE🛑 PTO anxiety is very real. But stepping outside your comfort zone can be a blessing in disguise even for the most shy person. Many of our board members have been around for years but- We actively welcome new faces, ideas and perspectives.
