Today in Ceramics…the Clay Olympics! The games included:

- modeling a horse out of clay without looking.
- seeing who could wheel throw the smallest pot.
- who could make the tallest coil pot that could stand on its own.

Everyone received the same amount of clay for each task and a time limit. Winning students won “medals” made out of old loop tools. It was a great way to finish up the semester.

We enjoyed a super fun, art filled field trip on Wednesday with some of our amazing and talented students and a couple of our wonderful parent chaperones. Our first stop was to view the fabulous Scholastic Art Exhibit at the College for Creative Studies. Then, it was on to the Detroit Institute of Arts for both a docent and self led tour through the museum. Such a fun day! We love our Warriors! 💙

So incredibly grateful to our Western alumni speakers who visited our advanced AP/IB Art class over the past week. AND, during first hour, nonetheless. Each alumni brought a unique perspective of their visual arts experiences and different career paths to share. Alyssa Brown, Anthony Williams and Meg Nefcy spoke with us about Illustration, Product Design, Photography and Tatoo Artistry. Our students really appreciated seeing their work and learning about their experiences at different colleges and after. Thank you for sharing your valuable time and talents with us!
