WVU Parkersburg students and community members are invited to connect with the West Virginia Secretary of State’s Office for voter registration assistance, election information and answers to questions about the voting process. The office provides official voter registration and election resources for West Virginians.

📍 Multi-Purpose Room, WVU Parkersburg

Sarah J. Smith, field representative with the West Virginia Secretary of State’s Office, will be available to assist attendees with voter registration and provide information about upcoming elections.

This event is free and open to the public. No registration is required to attend.

🎉 Congratulations to Marina Balarama of Wood County ESOL!

Originally from India, Marina joined the Advanced English as a Second Language program at the Wood County Adult Learning Center in February 2025 with a strong commitment to learning and personal growth. As she strengthened her English language skills, she gained confidence communicating in everyday situations and embraced new opportunities along the way.

Throughout her time in the program, Marina earned numerous certifications, including CPR, Kitchen Safety, ServSafe Food Handler, Customer Service I and II, and Bloodborne Pathogen certification. These accomplishments reflect her dedication to building skills that support her future goals and create new opportunities for herself and her family.

One of Marina’s most meaningful achievements was earning her American driver’s license in January 2026, increasing her independence and confidence as she continued pursuing her educational and career goals.

Marina continued building on her success by completing a Certified Nursing Assistant course and securing employment at Eagle Pointe Healthcare Center in Parkersburg. She also plans to continue her education by enrolling in a Certified Medical Assistant course at WVU Parkersburg.

Known for her kindness, encouragement, and positive attitude, Marina has made a lasting impact on her classmates and learning community. Her story is a wonderful example of how education, perseverance, and lifelong learning can open the door to new opportunities. 🌟

Wood County Adult Learning Center will be closed from Monday, September 14 through Thursday, September 17 for our annual professional development training. We will reopen on Friday, September 18, and look forward to continuing to support you as you work toward your educational and career goals. Thank you for your understanding!
