Your hard work and accomplishments are truly commendable. As you embark on this exciting journey, we want to celebrate you and the incredible resilience you’ve shown.

The Intercultural Excellence Stole Ceremony is a special occasion where we honor the current graduating class. It provides a space for fellow graduates, families, and friends to take a moment to reflect on the strengths that have been developed and the obstacles graduates have overcome during their time at Whitman. Graduates who take part in this optional ceremony will be bestowed with a stole symbolizing their cultural heritage, personally presented by either President Bolton, or whoever the graduate chooses. Everyone is welcome to attend as we celebrate our remarkable graduating students.

Join us on Monday, January 20th, at 12 PM for a celebration of Martin Luther King Jr. Day​!

We’ll start our celebration gathering at Reid Campus Center creating posters and to hear from Marci Corea and Dr. Sutton (Director of Connection and Belonging, Walla Walla Community College). Afterwards, we will walk together to Gesa Powerhouse Theatre to honor Dr. King’s legacy and enduring impact.

Once at the theatre, Senior Director of Identity and Belonging, Dr. Jace Saplan will deliver an inspiring keynote address reflecting on Dr. King’s vision and work. Following the address, we’ll share opportunities for community service, inviting everyone to engage in actions that uplift and support those around us.

We hope you’ll join us for this day of reflection, inspiration, and service. Feel free to reach out with any questions!

Asian American Native Hawaiian Pacific Islander (AANHPI) heritage month is an annual celebration during the month of May that recognizes the historical and cultural contributions of individuals and groups of Asian, Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander descent to the United States.
